The Fuzz guitar show 2013

The show took place this weekend and it was a great success! Lots of people, more than ever. We were busy more or less the hole time. Our booth was backed.  People were trying out our guitars and asking a lot of questions. Homesick Mac and Emil Ernebro played on the big stage and were as usually very good. We can not thank these guys enough. Both Eric Bibb and Staffan Astner stopped by the booth and never left. The guards at the Saturday evening had to tell them to leave. And the first thing at the Sunday morning they were back. They had set their eyes on the new SRB-roots with the resonator. This ended up in and order for both of them, and another one is going to Jam in Stockholm later this summer. So keep your eyes and ears open for when it arrives. We will keep you posted here on the blog.
We want to thank everybody who stopped buy and especially Johan Henningsson ( who got his ninth Sanden guitar this weekend!!!) who helped us to talk about our guitars./ Michael and Olle

Just opened and people are testing our instruments

Our number guitar 400 were admired by a lot of people. Here to old friends who have built their own guitars at one of our classes.

Johnny Arksund looked happy seeing his grandfathers boat become a Sanden guitar.

People, people and talk, talk. Great fun!

Distinguished guests and a happy guitar builder

Deceptive bends and crazy flames

The week after the Frankfurt show is always tuff. So the week started slow but soon we were up to speed again. The last year I have returned to more traditional shapes and looks of my guitars. Return is not the right word perhaps, I have never really done  "traditional" guitars. I have always stayed with my own designs, but as I get older the history interest me more and more. And looking back on old guitars I now find a great interest to explore this side more and more. I will never leave "my own" design, this is something I have developed  for more than 30 years and this look and sound is the Sanden guitar. But going back to more traditional guitar  I think I can both learn something new and add what is my trademark, long sustain and balance. It has been over a years since we first introduced the Roots series. We are very happy with these guitars and so are the customers who have bought them. We are constantly trying to add more value to these instruments. We now have a special case for these instrument, a beautiful 5 ply wooden case with a soft suede in a light leather color with white stitchings, vintage finish locks and our logo enbossed on the front. The inside is a dark green crushed velvet. This case goes together with the Roots series very well. We will in the future also have the case for sale in our webshop.
For as long as I can remember I have been interested in a lot of things. Here are some of my interests: Guitars (obviously), interior design, denims ( I have wore it all my life, and very rarely used anything else), bags ( I can not get enough of them), bikes (last years I restored my mother in laws bike and made wooden fenders for it) VW micro busses from the late fifties and early sixties. This is just a few of the things. On internet I find all kind of nice things that I like and I have recently started an Instagram account. If you are interested of what I get my inspiration from, take a look at this. The address is www.instagram.com/blueroots.
I hope you will have a nice weekend/Michael

New wood and a lot of sawdust

This week I have lacquered two guitars, one SRB-r with 12 fret neck and a new dreadnought in some crazy flamed maple which I bought in 1986 when I visited the Guild convention. We hope to have it finished so we can show it at the Fuzz guitar show the 27-28th of April.
Earlier this week me and Olle went up to our favorite place, Abrahamssons wood and timber. We needed more of the sapele which we use quite a bit of now a days.
We have bought from the same tree the last three years! and I guess they have more than 2/3 left. We got two 6 meters boards both 45 cm wide and 28 mm thick. When we came home we cut them up into smaller pieces and glued the edges. This particular tree have been dried and then been put in a garage for storage in more than three years, so the wood is really dry. We will never the less put it on our shelf for a long time before we use it.
Today we got the new sawblades and I could start cutting up the wood. It took more or less the hole day. Now it is up on the shelf and this is the best felling, to look at all the wood and thinking how many nice guitar we are going to make. Now time for a Dugges ale. Have a nice weekend/ Michael.

the sapele ready to be cut up into guitarsets

some of the pieces had some nice flames

I also cut up a pieces of brazilian rosewood for bridges

three hours later and about 40 new sets

even with a good dust collector, there is dust everywhere

all stacked and ready to be put on the wood shelf

A nice view for a guitarbuilder

Starting putting the necks together and fitting them to the body and then finally sanding of the  bodies so that by the end of Wednesday we could put the satin finish as you can see on the picture below.

L00 Gibson model is finished and more on its way!

I was so busy last week I forgot to write, but now I am back. This week I finished the L00 guitar. It is just the pickguard that is missing. It will arrive next week. The sound is really sweet, a bit crisp but that will go away when it has been played for a while. I like the look , the color of the swedish maple and the spruce top goes together well. The 12 fret neck and the short scale, 630mm makes it very easy to play. So now we are just going to take some pictures and then the guitar is for sale. Check out our website for more information and price next week.
Other things that have been happening this week is that Olle have been preparing for our first ukulele class next week. We have people coming all the way from Greece participating! We will take a lot of pictures so do not forget to check in and if you think it looks like a lot of fun we have another class in june. For more information check our website under "classes".
I am also in the finishing stage of a 14 fret SRB roots with an openhead, very nice. Another SRB- roots with a 12 fret neck is in the making together with a dreadnought, swiss spruce top and very flammed back and sides in maple.
So that is all for now, have a nice weekend/ Michael
